They say that the quickest way into someone’s heart is through their stomach. For one group of Georgia 4-H club members, their heartfelt, healthy meals are touching the hearts of their community one family at a time.
From his retro sense of style to his effervescent personality, Mason McClintock always felt different from others his age. When Georgia 4-H came into his life, he found a place of belonging, somewhere he could be himself and feel encouraged by adults and his peers. National Honor 01/17/19 Arch D. Smith
Mason McClintock, 17, of Alma, Georgia, is the winner of the 2019 4-H Youth in Action Pillar Award for Civic Engagement, according to the National 4-H Council. McClintock will be recognized nationally for his resilience and leadership of his program, the Alma Entrepreneur Tour. 
Temple Grandin, world-renowned animal agriculture consultant and advocate for the autism community, spoke to a crowd of about 400 Georgia 4-H club members and supporters on Dec. 4, 2018, at the UGA Livestock Arena. The event was hosted by Jackson County 4-H. CAES News

Temple Grandin, world-renowned animal agriculture consultant and advocate for the autism community, is no stranger to overcoming challenges. So when Grandin stepped to the podium and told a crowd of young people to think their problems through and face what scares them, they listened.

4-H Leadership Endowment 11/07/18 Josh Paine
Georgia Gov. Nathan Deal and first lady Sandra Deal were recently honored by the Georgia 4-H Foundation and the University of Georgia during a celebration of the foundation’s 70th anniversary. A new endowment for leadership programs has been created by 4-H alumni and supporters and named in honor of the Deals for their leadership and commitment to the youth development organization.
Jessie Holbrook of Union County, who submitted a pumpkin weighing 644 pounds, took first place in the Georgia 4-H pumpkin-growing contest this year.  CAES News
Giant Pumpkins 10/29/18 Sadie Lackey
Pumpkins are a staple of the fall season. Some people like pumpkins baked in pie, and some like them carved and lit up on their front porches for Halloween. Georgia 4-H’ers, on the other hand, like them to weigh hundreds of pounds. 
Held in partnership with National 4-H Council, the Tractor Supply Paper Clover fundraiser collectively raised $1,999,661 in 2018. In Georgia, 4-H members encourage residents in their counties to participate. Last year, these Hall County 4-H members set up an exhibit in their local Tractor Supply. CAES News

This year Georgia raised $27,959 for the Paper Clover Campaign. Each year in the spring and fall, Tractor Supply Co. partners with Georgia 4-H to raise money to send Georgia students to 4-H summer camp.

As a Georgia 4-H agent, Pamela Bloch knows that 4-H can change the lives of young people. To the uninitiated, however, that impact can be hard to describe.
Georgia 4-H members learn valuable public speaking skills through District Project Achievement. Students, like these Taliaferro County girls, research a topic and then present their findings to an audience of their peers. CAES News

Georgia 4-H inspires kids to do — to do community service, go to new places and to learn new skills. Georgians across the state are celebrating everything 4-H’ers do during National 4-H Week on Oct. 7-13. What started as a club for farm kids has grown into the nation’s largest youth leadership organization — a place where school-aged children learn to become successful and confident adults.

With a watermelon weighing in at 168.6 pounds, John Gorton of Sumter County won the Georgia 4-H 2018 Watermelon Growing Contest.
Sophia Rodriguez of Liberty County is among the 50 Georgia 4-H members who were awarded first place in their category during State 4-H Congress held July 24-27. Rodriguez competed in the health category. CAES News

Competing against their peers across the state, fifty Georgia 4-H members ultimately earned the coveted title of “Master 4-H’er” at the annual Georgia 4-H State Congress, held July 24-27 at the Crowne Plaza Ravinia in Atlanta.
