Pecan Workshop
In response to a growing number of pecan acreage across Georgia, the University of Georgia will be hosting a pecan production workshop for farmers just getting into the business. UGA Cooperative Extension pecan specialist Lenny Wells wants to help growers get all of the information they need at the workshop, to be held Monday, April 11.

Drift Complaints
Complaints over off-target movement of chemical applications went down 48 percent from 2014 to 2015, but Georgia farmers must better understand the factors that influence drift, according to University of Georgia weed scientist Stanley Culpepper.

Jan. 22 Ag Forecast Canceled
The University of Georgia College of Agricultural and Environmental Sciences’ Georgia Ag Forecast seminar at Unicoi State Park has been canceled due to potentially hazardous winter weather in White County and north Georgia.

Ag Jobs Abound
The U.S. Department of Agriculture forecasts that over the next five years the annual demand for college graduates in agriculture and food industries will be 57,900 jobs per year. Unfortunately, American agricultural colleges, like the College of Agricultural and Environmental Sciences at the University of Georgia, only produce about 35,400 graduates per year.
